The Committee 2017/18

John Willis

President

John is currently in his third year reading Theology at King's College and is planning on entering into the wine trade after his degree. John has been involved in the wine trade since he was legally able to, having worked for three different wine merchants and having completed his WSET levels 2 and 3.  His main love is Bordeaux and good Calfornian pinot noir, but finds great excitement in discovering great quality wines from lesser known regions of the world such as Romania. Having served as Social Secretary for 2016/17  academic year, John is excited to now lead the society into what promises to be another fantastic year.

Harry Fox

Vice President

Harry is a third year student reading Religion Politics and Society at Kings College London. His interest in wine originates from his grandparents who had a great love for traditional French and Italian wines introducing Harry to the deep and complex wine world. Serving as Vice President on the committee Harry hopes to help in providing members the best balance between enjoyment and education when it comes to tastings.

Sebastian Gisbert-Madziar

Legal and Liaison Secretary

Sebastian is reading Law at the Dickson Poon School of Law and currently studying transnational criminal and public international law at the Centre for Transnational Legal Studies. Born in Poland and moved to Belgium at age 10, Sebastian is strongly linked to continental European culture. His interest in wine emerged at spending summers in France's picturesque wine making regions and getting acquainted with the traditional wine and champagne making methods in the company of several champagne-making families. Sebastian is committed to providing the Fine Wine Society with an effective legal and administrative network in order to allow its activities to flourish while enabling its members to make the most of their membership at events and activities. Sebastian's experience at the Polish Embassy, several law firms and misconduct appeal tribunals, as well as extensive dealings with King's College London Students Union provides for a broad spectrum of skills to provide the society with the best conditions it needs in order to perpetuate the eminent tradition of wine tasting.

Karl Ulas-Ono

Treasurer

Karl is a student at King's College where his research interests lie in the literature and thought of the classical world. He is responsible for managing finances, booking event spaces and liaising with the Students’ Union. Karl is committed to a vision of the Fine Wine Society as a unique place where education, networking and wine come together.
